JOTRON TR-8000 AIS
JOTRON TR-8000 AIS
Model: TR-8000
Frequency/Type: AIS Transponder
Application: Marine Navigation
The TR-8000 features a compact, two-unit design consisting of a dedicated transponder unit and a separate display module. This design eliminates the need for an external junction box, as all external interface connections are handled internally within the transponder housing.
The Jotron Tron AIS TR-8000 is a commercial-grade Class A Automatic Identification System (AIS) designed for maritime safety and navigation compliance.
The original Tron AIS TR-8000 Class A transponder was officially discontinued from commercial availability in September 2021 and has been replaced by the upgraded Tron AIS TR-8000 MkII.
System Overview & Design
The TR-8000 features a compact, two-unit design consisting of a dedicated transponder unit and a separate display module. This design eliminates the need for an external junction box, as all external interface connections are handled internally within the transponder housing.
• Touchscreen Interface: It utilizes a 7-inch high-resolution resistive touch display.
• Dual Display Solution: The system natively supports a dual-display configuration, allowing operators to view navigation data from multiple stations.
• Ruggedized Construction: The primary transponder unit is IP56 water-resistant, weighing 3.7 kg and designed to operate under temperature extremes from -25°C to +55°C.
Technical Specifications
• Frequencies & Power: Operates on the standard TDMA VHF maritime band (156.025–162.025 MHz) with dynamic power scaling between 12.5W and 1W modes.
• Integrated GPS: Features an internal 16-channel GPS receiver primarily used for time synchronization and backup positioning.
• Power Requirements: Accepts a broad DC input voltage range from 10.8V to 31.2V, drawing less than 15W on average.
• Data Connectivity: Equipped with standard marine interfaces including RS422, RS232, and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet for radar, ECDIS, and long-range system integration. It supports standard IEC 61162 input/output data sentences (e.g., VDM, VDO, GGA, RMC, and ALR).
Regulatory & Compliance Standard (MkII)
• Bridge Alert Management (BAM): Fully compliant with IEC 62923-1 and IEC 62923-2 criteria for unified bridge alarm handling.
